It doesn't seem so long ago that I was sitting in this restaurant, enjoying a good meal, chatting to the owner about local, and international cricket. Unfortunately, having just spent a couple of hours in Abid, my opinion has changed dramatically! All seemed well at first - friendly waiter sat us straight away - in fact the place was fairly empty. After giving us the menus, the waiter decided to try and sell us all the side dishes / extras he could - we politely refused. I'll cut a long story short - the service was poor (waiter / barman turned the volume up full blast on a lighthouse family cd after a few chavs started singing along - waitress stood at bar drinking can of 7up) Waited ages for food - made worse by the fact there was hardly anyone in the restaurant! When food finally arrived, was not the colour, or consistency expected. In fact, I have just received a text describing it, which read "Shite mate! Tinned curry at best!" And unfortunately I have to agree...it's exactly what you would have picked up at your local spar!! Rice was also terrible, as were the chips - the only thing half decent was the keema naan. Abid only got a one star from me cos I didn't know if I could leave it blank! It's the first time I have ever shown my disgust at a meal - waitress asked me if i enjoyed my meal - my response "No, not at all really" I just could not lie.Anyway, having said all that, it was 2.45 am and maybe their chef had gone home! Previous experience not relived since new management took over. Sad really....! Oh, and it was over priced for what we had - same would have been 99p in loca shop!
